State of Love: An outreach program for pediatric cancer patients
For 43 children each day, the carefree joys of childhood are shattered when they hear the word “Cancer.” Their lives change as they prepare for a tough battle, often not fully understanding what lies ahead.
At just 4 years old, a family friend in Tennessee was diagnosed with leukemia, facing only a 1 in 8 chance of survival. This experience inspired me to take action and led to the creation of the State of Love Foundation, a 501 (C)3 non profit. I raised over $400 for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in honor of John Randall, who was declared cancer-free in 2013. In the second grade, I proposed cutting my hair to donate to a child with cancer. When my mother asked if I wanted to help just one child, I said no; I wanted to bring joy to many children. So, at 8, I launched State of Love as my outreach initiative.
Through this platform, I’ve donated to pediatric cancer patients and provided them with a brief escape from their struggles. Collaborating with local organizations and businesses, I aim to raise awareness and make a meaningful difference in their lives. My initiative not only educates others about childhood cancer but also brings smiles to those fighting their battles. I plan to advocate for these children and show how we can all positively impact our communities.
